March 31, 2003

Not much of an update tonight. I've added some captures from the short comic extras on the fourth DVD to the DVD page, but I haven't had time to get the wallpapers together. Looks like this will be a busy week at work, so I can't promise regular updates. I'll probably leave the rest of the DVD work I want to do until this weekend, so I can get the last two commentaries up.
I've also been given a decoding of the Tooga sign langauge, which I'll be formatting and posting sometime this week, and added a link from the same person.

I added the image captures to episode 09 and 10. I do want to go back and redo all the earlier images with this other method, but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. Too many time constraints.
This week I've got some more stuff to do to finish up DVD 4, and then I'll get the episode 12 and 13 commentaries up.

I added the image captures to episode 08. I wanted to get more done today, but zangyou, zangyou. On the bright side, I'm using a different method to capture the images now, so they should be higher quality.

Okay, it took me longer than expected to get the DVD, but I do have it now. In fact, I've updated the merchandise page with the info from it. More updates coming this weekend on that, and then I'll start getting more screenshots up.

I've added my commentary to episode11.
The Post Office tried to deliver the DVD today, so I should have it tomorrow. I'll be taking a bit of a break in the commentaries to get everything scanned and captured.
Some time ago I ordered a copy of "Hard Bolied Wonderland and the End of the World" from Barnes and Noble. I've heard it's supposed to have been an influence on the series, so I wanted to check it out. I only bring it up now because it still hasn't been delivered, so it's kind of sad that I'm getting my packages from Japan before the ones from the States.

The next DVD has shipped, so hopefully I be able to do some scans and image captures from it soon.

I've added my commentary to episodes 8 and 9. The latter is another one of the ones I'm going to have to do a lot of work on later, since I'm not satisfied with it. Still, we are reaching the point where I've covered most of what's going on, and there isn't much need for repetitions. I'll soon be getting into the things I need to fill in that will help explain some scenes in the earlier episodes.

I've added my commentary to episode 5, but it's another one I'm not really satisfied with. I expect I'll be doing a bit of research after I go through all of these once. If anyone out there is noticing things I've left out, please let me know.

I've added my commentary to episode 4, but I'm not particularly satisfied with it. I'm going to continue on with the episodes for now, but I expect I'll be revisiting this one soon.

I've added a short, spoiler-free review of the series. I'm hoping to get more updates in today, but I need to decide which ones to do next.

I added the image captures to episode 07. That catches me up on the DVDs for now, so I'll take the opportunity to do some other work.
I've also added images for Kuramori, Midori, Hyouko, Sumika, and the cafe owner. Some of these will probably be replaced again later.
Quick update on the soundtracks, it seems that Pioneer USA has announced a release date for the Haibane Renmei OST. It'll be out in the US in August of this year. I suspect we'll be seeing the R1 DVDs at least start being released this year as well.

I added the image captures to episode 06. This will probably be the last update until this weekend, which should catch me up on image captures. Between then and the next DVD release, I'll be working on a few little things, the series review, and the episode pages.

I added the image captures to episode 05. These are fairly time consuming, so there probably won't be an update tomorrow. I should be caught up with the currently released DVDs this weekend, however.

I added the image captures to episode 02 and 03. I'm still going a bit overboard on this, so I hope there aren't too many people on dial-up going through them. Still, it's not that bad. Yet.
I've also added a section in the Episodes category for the opening, along with screenshots.
I added a couple images to the Character pages, for the bakers.

I've added the detailed summary for episodes 12 and 13, which finishes them off for now. I've also fixed a few errors in the other summaries. Next I'll probably try to get caught up on the screenshots before the next DVD comes out.
Speaking of DVDs, I've been told that they are indeed progressive DVDs. They've just been misflagged as interlaced. You can find out all you want to know about what that means in this Secrets of Home Theater DVD Player Benchmark page.
I've also added a couple of review links.

I've added the detailed summary for episodes 10 and 11. I hope to finish these up on Friday, and then I'll spend the weekend working on getting screenshots up. I probably won't get caught up with the DVDs this weekend, but over the next week or two I will.
After that I've got a couple things to touch up and then I'll be working on the episode analysis.

I've added a downloads section to the Misc area. The first file is a Rakka WinAmp skin done by Amai of Tightrope.
I'm also adding a FAQ section. Send me any questions you think should be addressed. It'll be split into a non-spoiler and spoiler section, so any question will do. Most of the spoiler ones will probably end up in the actual episode pages rather than the FAQ, but there are some questions worth addressing separately.

I've added the detailed summary for episode 9. Almost no screenshots this time, but I've added the Hikari in Fashion bits that showed at the end of some episodes. At least, I've added all I have. I'm missing 1, 5 and 6 which appeared respectively at the end of episodes 1, 5 and 7. If anyone has captures of those, please send them my way.

I added the image captures to the preview episode 00 since they nicely included the footage on the third DVD.
I've also added the detailed summaries for episode 6, 7, and 8. Again, no screenshots for these yet.

I put up the detailed summary of episode 5, again no screenshots yet. I did some minor image changes in the merchandise section as well.
The main updates are the two additions to the merchandise section. The image album and third DVD showed up today, so those sections have been updated. As always, there's still more to come.
